Ed Vanson / Radio Presenter

Ed joined SHCR in 2017 after a short stint at Epsom Hospital Radio. Ed describes his show as a captivating experience with ideas fizzing though his brain and out into the airwaves like fireworks.

His musical interests range from Dodgy to Buddy Holly, Cast and Super Furry Animals.  And in fact his favourite concert was seeing Dodgy in Gosport followed by Faithless in Brighton.

His choice guest on his show would be the boxer Tyson Fury for the publicity he gave to mental health issues and his struggles with it. Ed is pretty sporty having played for Football Club Adelaide but his real footie passion is Fulham FC where he is also the tour stadium manager and Ed is proud of the fact that Craven Cottage Tours was recognised by TripAdvisor as a winner of the 2023 Traveller’s Choice Award. In addition he occasionally leads tours at Wembley Stadium.

But what really fires up Ed is doing crazy charity fund raising activities. Whether it is abseiling down the genuinely scary Spinnaker in Portsmouth or climbing Ben Nevis or in the space of 11 days  in 2013, running the length of the Thames followed by the London Marathon.

In fact his favourite drink  was the cool water from a waterfall on the way up Ben Nevis followed by his second favourite drink – the well-earned glass of beer waiting for him when he got down off Ben Nevis.

In spite of all this activity Ed has still managed to write four books. “Brilliantly Bonkers” and “Great Edventures” are available on Amazon while “Kitty And Carters Fulham Adventures” can be found on the Fulham FC tour website. The fourth is shortly to be published. SHCR awaits a fifth book “Ed’s Radio Edventures”!?!
