Ian Hislam / Radio Presenter
Ian Hislam shows
Ian’s love of music began in the 80s listening to the Top 40 on Radio 1 while his mother favoured the 60s and 70s music on Radio 2. Ian moved on to dance music and so his musical influences are wide ranging.
Ian is new to presenting and having got to a certain stage in life was looking for a challenge and so presenting a show on SHCR with a best mate offered the perfect opportunity. Having grown up marvelling at the way Steve Wright performed on radio, Ian would have jumped at the opportunity to have had him as a studio guest.
In his younger days Ian was much more into clubbing rather than gigging. However, Ian’s wife was a concert go-er and so Ian found himself seeing bands like Coldplay, U2, REM and James to name a few. His favourite concert was seeing U2 supported by Snow Patrol in Paris. He readily admits his biggest regret was not seeing Michael Jackson when he had the opportunity. If only he had the chance again……
His ideal holiday would be a leisurely tour down the west coast of America. Holiday reading would be the book of poems “Ariel” by Sylvia Plath. Ian’s favourite film is “Heat” and his favourite TV series is David Lynch’s “Twin Peak.” Ian is a long standing supporter of Crystal Palace and this feeds into his guilty pleasure of spending too much time playing fantasy football and although he would like to be another Jose Mourinho, in reality he is more Sean Dyche. Ian is keen to point out he is not as serious as he looks; running the London Marathon in 2018 and next up a birthday sky diving experience!
Ian co-presents Sunday Sessions with his university mate Cam. They make a great double act; Ian’s dry humour balancing Cam’s fizzing energy.
