Shay Young / Radio Presenter
Shay Young shows
After initially working with fellow presenter Chris Stretch for about a year, Shay is now flying solo with his own show “Back Through The Years”. Apart from his involvement with the County Care Project Radio, Shay has had no other radio experience. However his interest in radio lead his carer Cindy to introduce Shay to SHCR. A win-win all round.
Shay’s musical preferences are wide ranging although he leans more towards the 80s. However if he were asked to appear as a studio guest and bring two records with him, they would be anything by the Irish duo Foster & Allen. They remind Shay of his dad and The Irish folk band The Fureys. The song “When You Were Sweet Sixteen” reminds Shay of his holidays in Tenerife where he could be found every year hanging out with his group of friends at “The Irish Fiddle”. And this was the song he would sing! His other karaoke classic would be any song by the singer and musician Daniel O’Donnel.
Although a regular visitor to Tenerife, Shay’s dream destination would be to travel around the USA. And rather than the ubiquitous burger and chips, Shay would stick to his favourite meal of sausages and chips. While there, if he had the chance, he would love to meet Clint Eastwood and tell him that “Dirty Harry” is his favourite film and ask him if he feels lucky.
When asked what one thing would he save from his house if he had to vacate it in a hurry, he says without hesitation it would be his TV as Shay loves nothing better than settling down in his favourite armchair to watch something from Netflix while enjoying his favourite meal of sausage and chips.
