Michael Cleaver / Radio Presenter

Michael loves to perform. Although readily admitting to a limited experience on piano and ukelele his real passion is for singing, having performed many times either as a solo performer or as a member of a larger choir. But one performer to another, if Michael were to watch a performance it would be Queen with Freddie Mercury.

Michael’s original contact with SHCR was appearing twice as part of a children’s choir and music group and he so enjoyed the studio experience he wanted return on the other side of the mic presenting his own show. Michael has done time behind the mic having previously volunteered as a newsreader at the Dorking And District Talking Newspaper.

Michael has two other major passions. The first is railways. Michael describes himself as a “sustainable transport activist” and even makes YouTube videos about railways. So it is hardly surprising that Michaels ideal studio guest would have  been the early pioneers of rail the Stephensons and the Brunels. Railways lead into Michael’s other passion is as an environmentalist and promoting the environmental and social benefits of rail travel. This passion has involved interviewing politicians, senior members of the railway companies and the Mayor of London.

Michaels passion for railways means that he is spoilt for choice when it comes to an ideal holiday destination – a long distance journey through America on Amtrak; a bullet train ride in Japan or any one of the scenic journeys within Europe. And what better way to travel as the scenery flies by than watching a classic sci-fi film munching on a bacon sarnie!!
