Marc Green / Radio Presenter
Marc Green shows
Marc was welcomed to the station to present his own specialist jazz show featuring the many forms of jazz and sub genres from across the decades and the world.
Marc’s route into Jazz came via the horn section of James Browns backing band. He bought his first funk soul album aged nine and was attending gigs at fifteen. Despite his love of Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, and the sounds of West and South Africa his guilty secret is Motorhead.
Marc’s studio guest of choice would be the American jazz musician and poet Gil Scot Heron. When it comes to concerts it was the Nigerian Jazz/Afrobeat band leader Fela Kuti who in the nineties in Brixton blew him away. One performer he regrets not seeing was John Coltrane when the late jazz saxophonist Pharoah Sanders was in the band.
Naturally, Marc’s dream holiday would be a music trip around Southern and Western Africa.
Marc joined SHCR to present his own jazz show. And he is handy behind the mic from his other guise as an event DJ.
And some little snippets about Marc. His guilty pleasure is eating bratwurst. Marc’s favourite films are The Godfather series. His favourite book is “Beloved” by Toni Morrison which addresses the issues around slavery and motherhood.
