Jo Sheedy / Radio Presenter

Jo Sheedy shows

After seven years of gentle persuasion Jo finally joined SHCR and doing two shows – “The Eleventh Hour” and “Mole Valley Life” and whether it is connecting with her two sons in Epsom and Ireland or connecting with the Mole Valley community her shows are a mix of chat and music.

Jo presents a broad range of tracks but definitely excludes cheesey pop and heavy rock. Radio and music have featured heavily in Jo’s life since she was a young child playing her 45s and pretending she was a DJ using her hairbrush as a microphone, influenced by the likes of Tony Blackburn, Robbie Vincent and David Rodigan.

Her early musical tastes were soul and reggae but she is more likely now to be listening to the likes of Steeley Dan, Bob Marley and Amy Winehouse. However despite this love of music if she could have had a guest on her show it would be Alexander Hamilton one of the founding fathers of the USA to see how his life might have panned out had he not been killed in a duel in 1804.

A regular concert go-er she recalls seeing the Bay City Rollers in her younger days and most recently Ed Sheeran. An artist she would love to have seen would be Luther Vandross.

Jo’s ideal holiday would be island hopping around the Caribbean making a vlog of the music from each island. She would also visit any of the horse racing circuits she could find as Jo loves horse racing and everything associated with the sport and although she admits to not being a good enough rider to exercise them, she does enjoy pony trekking.

Jo is also a volunteer with the charity Racing Welfare. When Jo is not working in the studio you might find her browsing around salvage yards and second hand record shops. And if you hear a car drive past with loud music blaring, it is likely to be Jo “the louder the better” Sheedy.
