Elaine Blackmore / Radio Presenter
Elaine Blackmore shows
Surrey Hills Radio boasts many ”comedians” at the station but Elaine is the real deal being a stand-up comedian now running her comedy club “Whole Lotta Comedy.”
Elaine came to SHCR after guesting on one of the shows to talk about her comedy club. Elaine has radio experience with Normansfield Hospital Radio in Kingston where the station also ran weekly discos. So Elaine brings to her show that mix of radio and comedy in the hope that her music choices bring a smile to everyone’s faces.
Being a comedian it is no surprise that if she could choose a guest for her show, it would have been the late but hilariously great Dave Allen. Nevertheless, Elaine is hoping to interview a variety of comedians during her shows.
Elaine’s musical preferences are those artists that leave her with a sense of feeling good. So this would include the likes of Abba, the Beatles, Carole King, Simon & Garfunkel and even The Monkees. Elaine is not a great concert go-er as she does not like being in large crowds but she loved seeing Dire Straits and Neil Diamond. Elaine used to play piano and she was given a ukulele during the covid lockdown which she has yet to master.
She was a civil servant for 42 years before retiring for health reasons. Following her retirement, she turned to comedy, also working as an extra in film and tv having appeared in Keneth Branagh’s film “Belfast” and (get this) a Grime video! Elaines favourite film is the comedy western “Calamity Jane” with Doris Day and she is an enthusiastic fan of Corrie as it can be witty even when covering sensitive topics.
