Doug Marsh / Radio Presenter
Doug Marsh shows
Doug joined SHCR in 2019 and took a short break while working in London but rejoined the station in 2021.
Like a football match Doug’s show is a show of two halves. The first half is given over to classic rock and the second half mellows out with an emphasis on the eighties and some seventies and nineties added to the mix. Doug admits that rather like on old violin he has mellowed with age as he crossed over from heavy metal and hard rock to the more melodic eighties.
However Doug has not forgotten his rock roots. When asked who he would have guesting on his show he said “Alice Cooper” but without the guillotine. Failing that it would be the inspirational DJ Kenny Everett. And then of course his favourite concert, when asked, was Guns n Roses at Wembley in 1991. And a big regret is never having seen Motorhead play live. Doug had an unsuccessful go at learning to play electric guitar so he is reduced to playing a mean air guitar alongside his guitar heroes.
And Doug has quite a taste for the exotic. His holiday destination of choice is Japan for its cultural contributions in the form of Godzilla, computer games and the Samurai to name a few. Doug very much enjoys his hobby of playing video games such as Dungeons & Dragons. And on the long flight to Japan he will have plenty of time to re-read his favourite book “Lord Of The Rings” or catch up on the old Star Wars or Star Trek films.
