Chris Stretch / Radio Presenter
Chris Stretch shows
Chris joined SHCR back in 2018 on seeing a Facebook post from fellow presenter Chris Stagg and his first Mid-Week Crisis Show went live in November 2018. Prior to joining SHCR Chris had no radio experience but in his younger days ran local discos for weddings, birthdays and private parties. He also had a regular gig at a notorious drinking pub in Effingham where things could get lively so he does have experience managing tricky audiences. Not that he needs that at SHCR!
His musical influences span three family generations. His grandfather played a grand piano and was keen on classical music; his mother was keen on musicals while his sister was mad about The Beatles and his brother veered towards Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. Chris was more attracted to the pop/rock genre from the likes of Slade and is a massive fan of Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie. In fact given the chance Bruce Springsteen would be his number one choice guest on his show. Interestingly his all-time favourite song is Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks because Ray Davies nailed the essence of London.
Chris has an impressive CD collection which is hardly surprising given he likes nothing better than rummaging through charity shops and car boot sales searching for long forgotten but highly relevant CDs for his show.
Chris likes his football. He claims to be young enough to remember 1966 and the fact that three players came from West Ham but his dad refused to take him to Upton Park. Instead he went local and became a Crystal Palace supporter because that was the team supported by his brother.
