Big Al shows
We will never know if Big Al had Eddy Grant’s “Electric Avenue” in mind when he decided to call his show “Eclectic Avenues” but as the man says the avenue goes wherever the avenue leads but all musical styles will appear at some time when he takes his audience on that weekly two hour journey. And Big Al has been doing that on SHCR showcasing a real mix of old and new and always different. To think it might never have happened if he had not stumbled into the studio trying to sell pens!
He does not have guests on his show but in keeping with his eclectic tastes if the had the option he would choose Layne Staley from the Grunge/Heavy Metal Band Alice In Chains.
If music truly is the food of love, then Big Al is the perfect example because music not only lifts his soul but is more nourishing than a hot meal. Which is why his favourite holiday would be feasting on a beach in the Caribbean listening to reggae. His one regret would be not having seen Bob Marley playing live. But it is not just Red Stripe and Reggae. Concerts he has attended have an equally eclectic mix with Big Al seeing The Sex Pistols; Guns n Roses, The Beatnuts, Omar and Buju Banton to name but a few.
Music may be the food of love but Big Al admits his limited skills on guitar and piano are likely to lead to indigestion! Big Al likes nothing better than just chilling out, doing a bit of walking, and cooking then settling down to watch an episode from “Black Mirror”.
