Ali presents ‘Legends At 11’ every Thursday alongside his producer Zaid. Ali describes the show as two hours of creative fun and chat interspersed with music from the last five decades across a wide range of genres (e.g. think Pulp, Elvis, Stevie Wonder). Ali’s ideal studio guest would be Tina Turner, having been inspired not just by her music but the stage musical and how she faced and overcame the many challenges life threw at her.
Ali joined SHCR with experience based on doing a joint show on another radio station but decided it was time for him to branch out on his own and have full control over what went out on air. Ali enjoys seeing live music. He has been to a number of tribute acts of which Michael Jackson was probably the most spectacular. Ali also recalls the amazing Chris De Burgh concert at G Live. But the artist he would really most liked to have seen would be The Beatles not just because he loves the music but also to experience the hysteria of their live performances. Ali would love to be able to play guitar and learn to play “Yesterday”.
Ali’s special interests include swimming, horse riding, golf and musical theatre. With a relative recently settled in China there, this would offer Ali an ideal base for a dream holiday. Although he may have difficulty finding his favourite meal of fish and chips (with loads of salt and vinegar!) let alone finding a veggie pizza!
