Leatherhead Football Club

Our Friday night DJ Simon K moonlights on match days down at Leatherhead Football Club, providing music and commentary. Any fundraising the team do or end of season parties, Simon is there with the tunes!

Simon’s support for the club has extended to becoming Interim Media Manager and he expertly keeps Surrey Hills Community Radio up to date with the news from our most local football club.

We are proud of our representation down at the club and what Simon does for both the radio station and the football club.

Coronavirus support

Particularly during the coronavirus pandemic we supported the club by hosting a question and answer session with Assistant Manager Martin ‘Macca’ McCarthy. The honest and accurate interview covered all the announcements from the club and for the sport in general including information of a potential league postponement.

At a time where we couldn’t physically meet, radio helped with communication and to break down barriers. Transparency is also key in this situation. The interview hoped to ease the worries of many fans/supporters and clarify the facts.

Questions covered include:
* How does the modified budget to get the club through the season going to impact the club?

* How are the players coping?

* How important is fan support at this time?
