Oscar Cuthbert / Radio Presenter
Oscar Cuthbert shows
Oscar can’t help loving his music because it is in his DNA. His dad was a professional gigging musician and so he grew up surrounded by albums, tapes, and the regular musician’s technical gear.
Oscar picked up a guitar at 6 and a keyboard at 13. Even now he plays in three separate bands each tailoring their set lists to the venue and the audience. So you would hear anything from stadium rock anthems; singalong ballads or pop and rock classics. So it is hardly surprising Oscar’s show highlights the very best in classic melodic rock from the famous to the not so famous.
And when he is not performing behind a mic he can be found behind the controls of the sound systems at the Cranleigh Arts Centre. You may even find him at record fairs searching for rare vinyl of the sort that can be found on YouTube.
Rather surprisingly if he could choose a studio guest, it would be Dracula himself in the guise of Christopher Lee who actually recorded two operatic metal albums later in life.
Oscar has radio experience having worked on Radio Sonar in Southampton for a couple of years so he is loving being back on radio playing the music he and hopefully you love.
His favourite concerts were probably Prince in 2007 and a double bill with Whitesnake and Def Leppard. Although he regrets not seeing Queen’s Wembley concerts in 1986. Inevitably Oscar’s favourite film is Spinal Tap closely followed by Naked Gun.
Should Oscar ever want to escape all this he would arm himself with Bill Bryson’s “The Lost Continent” and retrace Bill Bryson’s steps visiting small town America.
