Dan Joyce / Radio Presenter / Technician

Dan has been with SHCR since the very first live broadcast having been persuaded by Board Director Andy Newbold after a few beers in the pub. Dan now gets up every Sunday morning at 9am for a two hour breakfast show.

Dan admits to having no previous experience in radio but he has form for being comfortable with a mic having been an event compere. Regulars at Dorking Halls may see him working the sound and lighting systems at some of the events held there. Especially if the shows are theatrical or musical as Dan is a great fan of both.

Dan is also a member of the all important technical team without whom SHCR simply could not function.

Dan has had a lifelong interest in music from pop to rock to country. So it is hardly surprising that his dream holiday would be another road trip in the States with a lengthy stay in Nashville. But don’t expect to see him on the piano in the Jerry Lee Lewis Bar. Much as he would like to, Dan can’t play piano.

But Dan does like live performances having seen The Police, Roger Waters, and a whole host of country artists. He has seen Queen with Adam Lambert so it is inevitable when asked who he would most like to have seen live it would be Queen with Freddie Mercury. So having established Dan music credentials one other name keeps cropping up – Rick Astley. A guilty pleasure perhaps?

Spare time for Dan is well spent watching “Silent Witness” on TV and Chelsea FC.
