It was always going to be a big ask for Eastleigh to pull it off and go into the promotion play offs but many who saw the game could say that they underestimated the sheer pace and agility of the Woking team throughout most of the game. It was only 4 minutes in when Eastleigh had found the back of the net from a close range header by Attacker Ross Lafayette, only to be ruled offside by the Linesman Gregory Read. It was all action within the first fifteen minutes as Bruno Andrade sprinted down the Left wing to cross in a high ball which is met by the head of Kieran Murtagh, which narrowly goes wide of the top left hand corner which goes out for a goal kick. Kieran Murtagh then does excellent to nutmeg one Eastleigh defender on the edge of the box he then crosses a lovely low ball in waiting for somebody to find the target, but nobody is there to finish, but the deadlock was broken on the tenth minute when a low cross is put into the box by Woking defender Chris Arthur which Goalkeeper Ross Flitney was ready to collect but his defender No.6 Paul Reid intercepted the drive and gave it back to Arthur as a clearance, Arthur who crossed again was successful as it was put over the goal line scruffily by Kerian Murtagh two yards out. Minutes later Eastleigh have a free kick in a goal scoring opportunity which comes to nothing and is cleared by Woking CB Brian Saah, Bruno Andrade collects it just before the half way line and runs half the length of the pitch to put in a low cross which is slotted in close range by the likely departing and top goal scorer John Goddard. Another nice piece of play by Woking leads to a Loyal striker Giuseppe sole one on one with the keeper but he shot straight at Ross Flitney who clears it comfortably, Eastleigh then create there first real chance where Ross Lafayette is on the edge of the box and shoots hard and low to the ground but In form Jake Cole gets down low to comfortably save. Eastleigh now getting into the game late on in the first Half have a decent shot where Michael Green Nutmegs Jake caprice and slams a shot at Jake Cole who makes a Wonderful one handed save which is cleared by the Woking defence.
- 45th Min substitution for Eastleigh Lee Cook (No.17) on for Paul Reid (No.6)
Only a few minutes in did Eastleigh create a chance when a floated ball was whipped in but Cole came off his line to athletically jump and punch away to safety, Murtagh was a real bright spark in the game today rushed into the box with a low ball across the face of goal but again no one was there to touch it. For a few minutes Eastleigh were playing more swan lake than football as Eastleigh’s goalkeeper took a free kick in his own box after a foul by Woking, it was glided to No.8 Josh Payne who headed it and fell over dramatically, the ball then was cleared towards the mangers box where Chris Todd got hit in the face after trying to catch the ball, not long after was No,3 Michael Green slipping over twice in a row, many fans laughing thought Eastleigh fans were playing on rollerblades. Eastleigh also came close following a corner, Murtagh soon after just heading wide of the post, Matt tubs missed an open goal from 6 yards out after a low ball was drove in from Eastleigh. Woking then have got the ball in the back of the net after lovely play from Murtagh who spotted Sole and sole finished only to be ruled offside, Eastleigh score on the 75th min after a low shot outside the box from Jai Reason deflects off striker Matt Tubbs to send Jake Cole the wrong way.
