On the Monday 29th August 2016 Surrey Hills Radio will be attending Downside & Hatchford Sports & Family Day, and the event supports local charities to donate their proceeds.
One of the charities the event has chosen is Oasis Childcare. Oasis are based in Cobham and provides essential support to children in need and their families across Elmbridge.
Helping on average 250 vulnerable families a year, Oasis works closely with the family unit as a whole together with schools, GP’s and Social Services with the aim of keeping vulnerable children out of the social care system and with their own families.
Dan from our Breakfast Show spoke to Caroline Edwards who was the founder of the charity 20 years ago as she revealed some unbelievable statistics around domestic abuse and the amount of calls/referrals the charity receive on a daily basis.
Caroline Edwards will be joining Sophie King (Miss Surrey) in opening the 106th Downside & Hatchford Sports & Family Day. The event takes place in Downside (near Cobham) and includes lots of free events for all members of the family to enjoy. Races, Welly Throwing, Archery and Crazy Golf are just a few of the events people can enjoy on August Bank Holiday Monday on Downside Common.
To find out more about the charity, listen to the interview on Surrey Hills Radio and visit the Oasis Childcare website to see how you can support.
