INTERVIEW: Gender Identity Research and Education Society (GIRES)

On the 8th March 2019, Connecting Surrey show had two wonderful guests from the Gender Identity Research and Education Society (GIRES).
Bernard Reed and Terry Reed came and talked about their experiences as parents of a transgender individual and the subsequent fight for Human Rights and justice, after what their family had experienced.

They set up the UK wide charity 21 years ago and have fought for Gender Identity and Equality ever since. They were instrumental in helping fight for the Gender Equality Act in 2002 and subsequent review. The Charity research all aspects of gender identity and is widely published.
They offer free E-Learning on the website on Plus there is an extensive directory of support groups that available across the UK. The organisation offers extensive training and support to Businesses, Schools and Organisations and also to Individuals.
It was a fascinating programme as the research into Gender Identity is really ground breaking but absolutely essential as the more understanding we have about US as Human Beings the better it will be for Human Kind.
