By Imogen Bole
Sundays, 12noon – 2pm
This week, I was joined by Deborah Kreczmer (painter) and Julie Noles (glass sculptor, textiles, painter). They both brought their fabulous art-work into the studio where they talked me through their creative process behind the finished piece and the different mediums and materials they work with.
We had a good old natter about how they first got into art and the moment when it turned from a hobby to a profession. We talked about the difficulties trying to get your work noticed and (hopefully) sold as well as the joys that being hyper-aware of your surroundings (the colours, textures, shading), as a result of being an artist, brings.
The infamous ‘creative block’ was mentioned and Deborah and Julie talked me through how they get over that hump and, contrastingly, what it’s like to have a huge creative surge. We spoke about their younger selves and how they came to art despite not coming from an artistic background or family. And, of course, we talked about the FAB upcoming events for these two lovely ladies.
