Paul, the manager from the Cancer Research Shop in Leatherhead joined me today (Wednesday 31st January 2018) to talk about what events are coming up and what a volunteer can expect to be doing if they join his team.

Firstly Paul talked about World Cancer Day on February 4th. Paul and his team of volunteers will be visible in Leatherhead High Street and inside Sainsbury’s this Friday collecting for Cancer Research. For a donation you will receive the new Unity Band – as advertised on television. If you can’t get into Leatherhead on Friday you can always go into the Cancer Research Shop in North Street Leatherhead.

World Cancer Day is a day to unite in the fight against cancer. Every Unity Band worn, every pound donated and every gesture of support will play an important part of beating cancer sooner.

Paul detailed the roles of his volunteers in his shop, explaining that if you don’t want a customer facing role there’s plenty of opportunities behind the scenes – everything from sorting the clothing donations to steaming the clothes in preparation to be displayed in store. If you’re interested just pop in and speak to either Paul or Julie. Paul stated that hours you work can be flexible to suit your needs.
